Why is it necessary to submit to proposals through TRS rather than submitting directly to the sponsor?

There are several reasons for the protection of the researcher and the protection of the institution that a TEES review and approval system is in place.

The researcher’s intellectual property (IP) is a very valuable commodity. Some sponsors will try to obtain ownership of that IP in return for the funding they are providing. This could restrict the researcher from continuing their research in this field. The TEES Office of Sponsored Research reviews proposal and contract terms and conditions to ensure that the IP rights of the researcher and TEES are protected. (more…)


 Specialized Service Facilty Use

The Texas A&M University System and the Texas Engineering Experiment Station offer several Specialized Service Facilities. Because of the specialized nature of these facilities the federal government (OMB Circular A-21 part J.47) allows the costs of such services to be charged directly to the applicable awards based on a schedule of rates established for the individual facility.  NEW F&A Rate for TEES

            Every two years universities and agencies that receive federal money renegotiate their Facilities and Administrative Rate Agreements with the Federal government.  The Texas A&M University System just completed their renegotiation.  The new rates are applicable to all Members of The Texas A&M University System headquartered in College Station, including the Texas Engineering Experiment Station, until August 31, 2011. Get TRS Involved Early in Subagreements

Whenever your proposal involves a subagreement, your interest as the lead researcher is best served by getting TEES Research Services in the communication loop early.

Requesting Documentation from Subawardee

TRS uses a form to request information from the subawardee.

Examples of documents that may be requested for submission to the sponsor in the TEES proposal on behalf of the subrecipient are: 1) cover page, authorized signature or intent letter, 2) statement of work, 3) approved detailed budget, 4) resources page, biosketch, checklist, other support pages as required.
