As a systems engineer, Dr. G. Kemble Bennett has done his share of designing and managing complex engineering projects for NASA and the aerospace industry, and in running his own company. As Vice Chancellor and Dean of Engineering for The Texas A&M University System, Bennett now has the opportunity to apply his systems engineering expertise to engineering education through the National Science Foundation grant Transforming Organizations to Maximize Engineering Student Learning Across The Texas A&M University System. TEES Research Services is bidding farewell to two of its own. Erin Kinne, who was serving as a Contract Negotiator has accepted a position as Business Coordinator I in TAMU-Qatar and Elena Rodriguez, Administrative Assistant for Contract Negotiations, has accepted the position of Assistant to the Department Head of Chemical Engineering.

We will miss these dedicated ladies but are excited for them as they delve into the new chapters in their lives. We wish them well in their future endeavors.


 TRS welcomes a new Proposal Administrator

Last month Pam McConal joined Research Services as our newest Proposal Administrator. Pam is from Bryan and has been with The Texas A&M System for nearly 25 years, most recently she spent 8 years in Aerospace Engineering where she worked as Administrative Coordinator.

Freddie Hunter, Associate Director of TEES states, “Pam is a great addition to our proposal unit. We are very fortunate to have her as part of our team!!”


 More changes for Research Services

Many of you have worked with Lisa Hallford over the years. She has coordinated the electronic routing of proposals for years, and has handled administrative duties for Research Services since February of 2001. In June of this year, she took on new duties and responsibilities. She will now serve as the newest proposal administrator. As she gets up and running specific departments will be assigned to her, but for now, please take a moment to congratulate Lisa on this new endeavor. Freddie Hunter, Associate Director of TRS shares his thoughts on this change: “I am thrilled that Lisa has shown an interest to become a proposal administrator, hopefully she will be with us for years to come.”

 Research Services — Same Name, Larger Office

Due to the reorganization that occurred in late March, all “pre-award” functions are now handled by TEES Research Services (TRS). This includes funding opportunities, proposal preparation and submission, contract negotiation and research compliance.

David Hollingsworth remains the Director of Research Services. Freddie Hunter is the Associate Director for Proposal Services, in Contract Services Cindy Baxter is the Associate Director and Katherine Kissmann is the Assistant Director, and Sean Rubino is the Compliance Officer. (more…)

 Qatar National Research Foundation Proposals Submitted

Qatar - QNRFIn addition to the routine submission of proposals, TEES Research Services has been busy the last few months assisting faculty with the preparation and submission of proposals to the Qatar National Research Foundation. There were 137 submitted by TAMUQ-Research Office. Out of this number, 22 were TAMU proposals and 115 were TEES proposals. We are glad that this part of the process is behind us and look forward to our faculty receiving many awards under this competition.
